Making Harvest Memories 2016

Harvest is a culmination of two year’s of hard work in the vineyard.   Vine commit biological resources to fruit production two years ahead of harvest, when shoots grow and nodes form.  The nodes will sprout next year’s buds, and from the buds, more shoots.  On each new shoot, more nodes form and two clusters of fruit.

We celebrated our annual Harvest Party on October 3 this year.  The hottest, driest summer on record allowed us to take Pinot Noir from the vines a week early, so we sent our volunteer pickers into the back vineyard to tackle the Chardonnay.

The Fade Kings entertained with classic blues and rock music as volunteer pickers rested sore knees and replenished calories with a rich chili prepared by Micheline and Nanna.
